Las Vegas Taxi Accident Attorney

According to the Nevada Taxicab Authority, in 2006, Las Vegas taxicabs completed 25,929,133 trips. Considering the large number of visitors using taxicabs in Las Vegas and the heavy road construction, it is no surprise that taxi accidents happen frequently.

Taxicab accidents involving cars, pedestrians, bicyclists and other objects occur frequently in Las Vegas.  It is believed that the rate of injury in taxi accidents is far higher than that of regular cars because fewer taxi cab passengers wear seatbelts.
If you are ever involved in a taxi cab accident, make sure to:

  • Document as much information as possible including driver name and telephone phone number, taxi cab registration number and the name/phone number of the taxi cab company the driver works for
  • Document the name and contact information of any other drivers that were involved in the accident
  • Document name and contact information of any witnesses
  • If possible, take photos at the scene of the accident (camera phone pictures are fine).

In Taxi accident cases, it is imperative that you contact an attorney immediately to protect your rights. The Nevada Taxicab Authority Board requires each of the valley’s 16 cab companies to develop and implement a driver safety program which must include the installation of mechanical, electronic, or other devices that “will protect the driver and passenger from crime” or “will aid law enforcement officials in the apprehension of persons who victimize cabdrivers”.

Although we are not investigating a crime in your case, whatever device was used in your cab should be immediately requested before it is destroyed. Don't trust the cab companies to keep your evidence. Have an attorney request these items before it is too late. Additionally, under Nevada law, taxi driver records such as complaints, licensing, and driving records, and maintenance logs of the vehicles themselves are only required to be kept for so long. Contact us before the proof of their negligence is gone.

You do not need to be a resident of Nevada to retain an personal injury attorney here or to file a lawsuit.  If you have questions regarding a taxi accident in the Las Vegas area, call us immediately
